Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway Recent Developments (June 2026)

The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway (Awadh Expressway) is in its final stages of construction. Major construction work across both packages has been largely completed, with overall progress reaching approximately 99% as of May 2026. The elevated urban section of this Lucknow–Kanpur Corridor has undergone structural trials, and toll rates have been officially announced.

Currently, finishing works on toll plazas, control centers, and specific ramps in the Lucknow urban package are actively underway. The shifting of pylons and high-voltage transmission cables is complete, and cantilever concrete deck slabbing on the elevated section of the NE-6 Expressway is finalized.

Although the greenfield section in Package 2 (Unnao district) has been ready since late 2025, minor delay in the Lucknow package ramps and toll structures has rescheduled the expressway opening. The National Expressway 6 is anticipated to become fully operational for public traffic by Mid-2026, significantly easing commuter transit between the two major cities of Uttar Pradesh.
