The corridor passes through Nagpur, Wardha and Chandrapur districts of Maharashtra.
The expressway will improve industrial connectivity, reduce travel times, strengthen freight movement and extend the Samruddhi Mahamarg network further into Vidarbha.
It will reduce travel time between Nagpur and Chandrapur from 4 hours to approximately 2 hours.
The Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway is a proposed access-controlled Super Communication Expressway being developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The revised project connects the Seldoh Interchange on the Samruddhi Mahamarg with Navegaon (Mor) near the Chandrapur region, with a separate Chandrapur link retained in the project.
The revised route starts at the Seldoh Interchange on the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg and runs eastward toward Navegaon (Mor) on the Nagpur–Hyderabad highway corridor. A separate Chandrapur connector is retained to provide access toward Chandrapur.
The December 2025 revised alignment places the main corridor from Seldoh to Navegaon (Mor) at about 192 km, with an additional approximately 11 km Chandrapur link retained from the earlier plan. The revision was made after considering Gati Shakti portal recommendations and is intended to reduce forest-land acquisition by about 27 hectares.
The latest Nagpur Chandrapur Expressway map should show the revised Seldoh–Navegaon (Mor) alignment together with the Chandrapur link. Earlier maps based on the 194.364 km tender scope should be treated as historical because the state approved a revised alignment in December 2025.
The revised government plan describes the project as approximately 204 km in total, comprising about 192 km of main highway and an approximately 11 km Chandrapur link. Earlier 2024 MSRDC tender documents covered 182.395 km of main Nagpur–Chandrapur alignment plus an 11.969 km Chandrapur connector, totalling 194.364 km, so the older figure should not be presented as the latest alignment.
The project cost was estimated at approximately ₹21,702.33 crore in MSRDC project documentation. A later 2026 project report gives an estimated value of about ₹22,994 crore, so the final cost should be treated as subject to the revised alignment and administrative approvals rather than presenting either figure as an unchanged final construction cost.
Full-scale construction of the revised Nagpur–Chandrapur corridor has not yet been established. Earlier EPC tenders were issued for packages under the previous alignment, but the project was subsequently revised. In 2026, the government was prioritising land acquisition and implementation of the revised corridor.
The project is in the implementation and pre-construction stage. The revised 204 km plan was approved in December 2025, and Maharashtra later approved the wider Vidarbha highway programme in 2026. Land acquisition is currently being accelerated, including the appointment of Additional Collectors to facilitate negotiations and acquisition in affected areas.
The latest developments include accelerated land acquisition and implementation work for the revised corridor. In July 2026, Maharashtra approved a ₹2,353.94 crore government guarantee for an MSRDC loan from HUDCO to fund land acquisition. In September 2026, Additional Collectors were notified to speed up land-acquisition negotiations for the Nagpur–Chandrapur expressway and related Vidarbha road projects.
The revised Nagpur Chandrapur Expressway begins at the Seldoh Interchange on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. It is therefore planned as an extension of the Samruddhi connectivity network toward eastern Maharashtra and the Chandrapur region.
The revised corridor starts in the Seldoh area of Wardha district and extends eastward toward the Chandrapur region. The project therefore strengthens connectivity between the Nagpur–Wardha side of Vidarbha and Chandrapur, with the exact village-level alignment subject to the revised project and land-acquisition documentation.
The Maharashtra government has indicated that the Nagpur–Chandrapur project is part of the Vidarbha highway programme targeted for completion between September and December 2028. The actual completion schedule will depend on land acquisition, revised implementation arrangements and construction progress.
