The official Chennai Metro route map connects Greater Chennai, its central business districts, industrial parks, and Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) IT Corridor in Tamil Nadu. Implemented and operated exclusively by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), the 173.0 km network comprises 54.1 km operational rapid transit across 43 stations (Blue Line & Green Line) and 118.9 km Chennai Metro Phase 2under active construction across 128 new stations (Purple Line 3, Yellow Line 4 & Red Line 5) with planned completion by 2028. Both existing corridors are operational.
Chennai Metro Complete Master Network (Phase 1, Phase 2 & Proposed Phase 3)
Implemented and operated exclusively by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), the Chennai Metro network spans 8 distinct corridors across operational lines, Phase 2 active construction, and proposed Phase 3 future routes:
Blue Line (Corridor 1: Wimco Nagar Depot – Chennai Airport)
32.1 km operational North-South corridor featuring 26 stations (19 elevated, 7 underground) connecting Wimco Nagar Depot to Chennai Airport via Anna Salai.
Green Line (Corridor 2: Central – St. Thomas Mount)
22.0 km operational corridor featuring 17 stations (8 elevated, 9 underground) connecting Chennai Central, Egmore, and Koyambedu CMBT to St. Thomas Mount.
Purple Line (Phase 2 Corridor 3: Madhavaram – Siruseri SIPCOT 2)
45.8 km Phase 2 corridor under active construction featuring 50 new stations connecting Madhavaram Milk Colony to OMR IT Expressway & Siruseri SIPCOT.
Yellow Line (Phase 2 Corridor 4: Lighthouse – Poonamallee Bypass)
26.1 km Phase 2 corridor under active construction featuring 30 new stations connecting Lighthouse via T. Nagar & Porur to Poonamallee Bypass.
Red Line (Phase 2 Corridor 5: Madhavaram – Sholinganallur)
47.0 km Phase 2 orbital corridor under active construction featuring 48 new stations connecting Madhavaram via Koyambedu to Sholinganallur.
Blue Line Extension (Phase 3: Airport – Kilambakkam Terminus)
15.46 km proposed extension featuring 12 planned stations extending the Blue Line along GST Road to Kilambakkam Bus Terminus (KCBT).
Line 5B (Corridor 5 Branch: Koyambedu – Avadi – Pattabiram)
21.76 km proposed branch corridor featuring 19 planned stations extending through Avadi to Pattabiram (State DPR Approved).
Parandur Extension (Phase 3: Poonamallee – Sunguvarchatram)
27.9 km proposed extension stretching toward the upcoming Parandur Smart City & Greenfield International Airport.
