Meerut Metro Network Expansion & Master Plan
Meerut Metro operates from Meerut South to Modipuram over a 23 km corridor. The network has 13 stations in total, including the at-grade Modipuram Depot Station; 12 stations serve regular passenger operations. The Metro shares the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat infrastructure. Proposed Phase 2 is planned at around 15 km with 13 stations from Shradhapuri Phase II to Jagrati Vihar Extension. Phase 3 is a proposed around 9 km corridor from CCS University to Begumpul via Ganga Nagar with 6 stations.
Phase 1: Meerut South to Modipuram (Operational)
Meerut Metro operates from Meerut South to Modipuram over a 23 km corridor. The network has 13 stations in total, including the at-grade Modipuram Depot Station; 12 stations serve regular passenger operations. The corridor provides local urban transit across the north-south axis of Meerut city, cutting intra-city travel times between Meerut South and Modipuram to under 30 minutes.
Phase 2: Shradhapuri Phase II to Jagrati Vihar Extension (Proposed / Planned)
Proposed Phase 2 is planned at around 15 km with 13 stations from Shradhapuri Phase II to Jagrati Vihar Extension as an east-west transit corridor connecting western suburbs to eastern commercial growth zones. Labelled as Proposed/Planned.
Phase 3: CCS University to Begumpul via Ganga Nagar (Proposed / Planned)
Phase 3 is a proposed around 9 km corridor from CCS University to Begumpul via Ganga Nagar with 6 stations, designed as an academic feeder corridor integrating major universities and residential sectors with the central transit terminal. Labelled as Proposed/Planned.

Integration of Meerut Metro Approved
NCRTC approved the integration of Meerut Metro with the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS alignment.
Union Cabinet Approval & Foundation Stone
Union Cabinet approved the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS with Meerut Metro on 19 February 2019, followed by the foundation stone ceremony on 8 March 2019.
Construction Commenced
Construction commenced on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS corridor, including the infrastructure that would support Meerut Metro.
Rolling Stock Contract Awarded to Alstom
Alstom's rolling-stock contract covered 210 coaches for the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor, including 30 coaches in 10 three-car trainsets for Meerut Metro.
Meerut Tunnelling Completed
Tunnelling in the Meerut section was completed on 25 July 2023. Subsequent work focused on station finishing, systems and commissioning.
First Trainset Delivered
First Meerut Metro trainset delivered by Alstom to NCRTC; the first trainset was handed over on 16 February 2024.
Trial Runs Began
Meerut Metro trial runs began between Meerut South and Meerut Central, with subsequent trials extended toward Modipuram.
Commercial Operations Inaugurated
Meerut Metro commercial operations were inaugurated on the Meerut South–Modipuram corridor. The Modipuram Depot Station is not a regular passenger station.
